They say it's my Birthday! -- Closed

Is it your birthday, too?!

My 24th birthday is this week. I've been thinking about what I want to do to celebrate (go to Sea World) and how I feel about being another year old (ambivalent). What is it with people dreading birthdays anyway? Birthdays are awesome! When we woke up on our birthday, my mom would have hung up balloons and streamers outside our bedroom door, leading all the way into the kitchen where I probably had Minnie Mouse shaped pancakes with sprinkles on the bow.

Good times.

Here's a birthday present from me to all of you: I'm giving away a new copy of Material Obsession by Kathy Doughty and Sarah Fielke. It has instructions for 23 quilts and also several pages on quilting basics. The photographs and quilts are beautiful and there is something for every skill level, from beginner to experienced.

You could use it to make quilts or just put it on your coffee table to trick people into thinking that you do.  As my good friend Olmec used to say, "the choice is yours, and yours alone."
I feel like Kristin Wiig.

All you have to do is leave a comment with your email or a link back to your blog or some way I can get in touch with you if you win. That's all. Just say "hi" or "your baby is sew adorable" (see, I took that one now, so you have to think of your own witty remark) or whatever you want to say and you're entered. Brownie points for funny jokes or awesome baby names. I love hypothetical baby names; what are yours?

One entry per person, please.

The winner will be picked on Thursday, the 26th.

Yummy. You know you want some quilty goodness!

If the temple guard gets you you lose and you don't win a trip to space camp this book, then at least you have the remote control trucks and your confidence! Yeah, confidence. And it's my birthday!

***
Congratulations to the winner, Lizzie! She said:

"Hi! Happy Birthday!!!!!

I am a Lizzie too, so I should win.

Also, quilting elves like peanut butter and jelly bean scones. Just sayin.

YAY!"

Verrrrry persuasive. Thanks to everyone for stopping by the ol' blogeroo. I hope to see you around! Yes, I just ended a sentence with a preposition. Deal with it.

Oh yay! I love birthday giveaways. I am horrible at remembering other people's birthdays. So any kind of reminder is good :).

I have been thinking about getting a "quilting book". I guess you reccommend it, huh?

Deana K said...

Oh! Me! Here I am! I'm the winner!! Please?

Happy birthday week. I hope your manly men have something super special planned for you. :)

(I think you have my email address...)

It's a pretty good book! I liked looking at it, but since I'm more of a finish whatever project I'm working on in a week or two kind of person, "looking" was about as far as I'd get into that book. But if you're a normal, patient quilting person, then this book would be awesome.

Happy Birthday to you! I've looked at that book so many times & never bought it, lovely giveaway!

fern said...

It'd sit on my coffee table...although, I don't have one...so it'd sit on our living room dresser which acts as our hold-all to imply to others that enter our home that I do, in fact, have an interest in quilting. When actually I am quite afraid to start because I hear that it is quite addicting and I just don't want to give in yet.

producedlocally said...

Please move to TN pronto. I think there are naval bases here? I'll look into that...
In the meantime, Happy Birthday Week!
Here's to another year of adventures!

How about if I tell you my REAL babies' names?

Sierra, means mountain in Spanish, will be 3 in June.

Kaia, which is both the feminine form of the Hawaiian work for ocean AND a derivative of the Greek earth goddess, is 9 months.

That was a long sentence.

If you had had a boy, his name would have been Camden, winding valley. We probably would have called him Cam.

I also like the name Ilana, Inara, Aurora (I think I like girls' names that end with "a"). Boy names are hard for me.

This has been a long comment.

Happy birthday.
