My 24th birthday is this week. I've been thinking about what I want to do to celebrate (go to Sea World) and how I feel about being another year old (ambivalent). What is it with people dreading birthdays anyway? Birthdays are awesome! When we woke up on our birthday, my mom would have hung up balloons and streamers outside our bedroom door, leading all the way into the kitchen where I probably had Minnie Mouse shaped pancakes with sprinkles on the bow.
Here's a birthday present from me to all of you: I'm giving away a new copy of Material Obsession by Kathy Doughty and Sarah Fielke. It has instructions for 23 quilts and also several pages on quilting basics. The photographs and quilts are beautiful and there is something for every skill level, from beginner to experienced.
You could use it to make quilts or just put it on your coffee table to trick people into thinking that you do. As my good friend Olmec used to say, "the choice is yours, and yours alone."
I feel like Kristin Wiig.
All you have to do is leave a comment with your email or a link back to your blog or some way I can get in touch with you if you win. That's all. Just say "hi" or "your baby is sew adorable" (see, I took that one now, so you have to think of your own witty remark) or whatever you want to say and you're entered. Brownie points for funny jokes or awesome baby names. I love hypothetical baby names; what are yours?
One entry per person, please.
The winner will be picked on Thursday, the 26th.
Yummy. You know you want some quilty goodness!
the temple guard gets you you lose and you don't win a trip to space camp this book, then at least you have the remote control trucks and your confidence! Yeah, confidence. And it's my birthday!
Congratulations to the winner, Lizzie! She said:
"Hi! Happy Birthday!!!!!
I am a Lizzie too, so I should win.
Also, quilting elves like peanut butter and jelly bean scones. Just sayin.
